BMXStunts:
What is your occupation?
Matt:
Rider and Owner of Lifetime BMX.
BMXStunts:
What got you into riding?
Matt: I started racing BMX and then got into bike stunt by starting
to dirtjump at the track. It finally got to the point that I liked
the jumping more than I did the racing. I just went to the track
to show off after that.
BMXStunts:
What kinds of bikes did you ride when you began?
Matt: My first bike was a Huffy Thunder Road. My first real BMX
machine was a Redline MX 3. My first real freestyle specific bike
was one of the original Haro Freestylers.
BMXStunts:
How often do you ride?
Matt: I work at Lifetime BMX 7 days a week., so I guess I ride mostly
at night when I get off. I will go to the skatepark or go to the
trails. Sometimes even street, but the police harassment is really
frustrating. Sometimes I think they would prefer to see us out on
eh corner smoking crack, rather than doing something constructive
like riding our bikes.
BMXStunts:
Who do you ride with?
Matt: I usually ride with Blake Young and Pat King. Other than that,
I ride with the Snellville riders or the Monroe riders. They are
two groups of riders from my area that are into riding 24/7.
BMXStunts:
Do you have a favorite riding experience?
Matt: I am not even going to get into that. There are way too many
good ones to pick from.
BMXStunts:
Do you have any expectations or goals in Riding?
Matt: I like to scare myself every time I ride. If you are not scaring
yourself, you are not really pushing yourself. At least that is
the way I feel. My goal is to ride for as long as I can, not to
excel at any specific point in riding. I wear a lot of safety gear
so I can ride more and not have unnecessary injuries.
BMXStunts:
What motivates you to ride?
Matt: That's easy, if I didn't love riding, there is no way I would
have stuck with it all these years.
BMXStunts:
Are there riders you think influence the sport or you enjoy watching?
Matt: Seth Kimbriough has given kids in my area some positive motivation
spiritually. Not only is he an unbelievable rider, but he also makes
being a Christian look cool. I think his friend Cory Martinez is
going to be making his mark too. He is on eh same page Seth is on.
BMXStunts:
Tell your likes and dislike?
Matt: I like riding, golf and free time. Dislike bad attitudes,
laziness and bike problems.
BMXStunts:
Tell us your biggest accomplishment?
Matt: Finally opening Lifetime BMX. I wanted to open a bike shop
since I was a little kid.
BMXStunts:
Future Plans?
Matt: Follow through with Lifetime BMX. Maybe start something else
like making frames or something.
